do you ever think about how little Michelangelo cared

All right, everyone, grab a chair and sit back because I’m going to share with you what I learned about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel in my Art History Class.
The man NEVER wanted to paint the damn thing. But the pope at the time “forced him to” According to my teacher. Michelangelo hated this man, I MEAN REALLY HATED HIM. So did a majority of people. The pope’s nickname translated literally means “Terrible pope”.
And the working conditions were awful. He had to work on his back with all that paint, which is filled with some toxic shit that gave Michelangelo a limp for the rest of his life. (Also, our teacher made us get on our backs and try drawing with both hands JUST to prove how bad and uncomfortable it is.)
At the time, the ceiling was so high, you could barely see it. You need binoculars to get a good look at what’s up there, by the time people could see the paintings, there was a lot of weird symbolism that Michelangelo hid up there.

This one? The creation of the sun and moon? God is mooning you. And the pope and all others after him prayed under that without knowing.

This one? At the time, dissecting was sacrilegious and everyone found out how behind God was what looked like half a brain. blah blah, science, science, that pissed everyone off.
And also, ALLLLLLL the men and women in the Sistine Chapel are all on fucking steroids. My teacher described the women’s bodies as "Men bodies with boobs slapped on."
And then there is this:

Now this is the back wall. Michelangelo actually wanted to paint this one after he finished the ceiling. (and there was a different pope too, I believe.) However, originally, EVERYONE in that painting was naked. And they didn’t like it. Adam and Eve naked? That’s cool. But Jesus? Now you crossed the line. So the pope at the time hired someone else to censor it and give the important figures clothes. He worked on it for 6 or 9 months before he died.
And then the symbolism in this one is great. Somewhere in the right, there are homosexuals in heaven. (No matter what, the Vatican will say “Those straight men are happy” I’ll get to that in a second), Michelangelo painted himself near Jesus, and the terrible pope is in hell with a snake biting his balls.
And if you were to point ANY of this out to the Vatican, they will deny all of it and claim Michelangelo was a catholic hero. In fact, when they discovered the symbolism around the 60s or 70s, the guy who told the Vatican was kicked out of the Vatican for life.
TL;DR: Michelangelo hated the pope and made the best “fuck you” of all time.

that’s the face of a man who’s questioning every gay stereotype he’s ever been told and realizing two rugged hunters can fall in love

AND HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THE COLOURS IN THE SCREEN OR IT’S JUST ME.

do you mean the neon Texan Star beer sign being the blue/purple/pink of the bisexual flag?

coincidently, that’s the brand of beer Dean and Cas are drinking

and the brand that the bartender has to sign for before the cupid hooks him up with his true love

it’s also the brand delivered to the gas station in Heaven Can’t Wait 9.06 that Cas had to sign for while talking to Dean

and they were even positioned the same as the bartender and his soon to be bf

one behind the counter working, the other in front of the counter like a customer

but I’m sure people will say I’m reading too much into this

as predicted people are saying the beer was only used because they didn’t want to make a new prop
check out all the boxes in the store room, I wonder why they didn’t use one of those for the delivery

peanuts, yummy, and they’re in a generic brown box perfect for deliveries

this guy is delivering newspapers and Cas didn’t have to sign for them

Sacrifice 8.23 has two guys, one working and the other a customer, that are interrupted by a Texan Star beer delivery that needs to be signed for
Heaven Can’t Wait 9.06 has two guys, one working and the other a customer, that are interrupted by a Texan Star beer delivery that needs to be signed for
that’s a parallel

No that’s not. There’s lots of parallels in this show but that’s literally just how both places would look. And those aren’t the bi flag colours, that’s red, not pink, it’s the lighting that makes it look pink and even if it was it wouldn’t’ve been too hard to put them in the right order if it was staged.

your big counter argument is that it was all coincidence? I’ll grant you that the sign might mean nothing but the sign isn’t part of the parallel, it was just something interesting that I pointed out
the staging is the same, the same beer box was used even though there are plenty of other boxes available and the gas station was in Idaho, not Texas. Since season 1 Supernatural has used regional beers only when the scene is set in that region as a way to establish where in the country the scene takes place but they broke that rule buy using a prop from Texas in a scene set in Idaho which indicates that it was important to someone that this particular beer box be used in both scenes. There’s also no need for the delivery guy to interrupt Dean and Cas to get a signature, the newspaper delivery guy didn’t get one. Signing for the beer pulled focus from the scene which isn’t something you ever want to do when two leads are having an important conversation. Either this show made the horrible choice to have them be interrupted for no reason, which goes against the first rule of directing, or they were making a parallel. As I’ve said, the beer isn’t the only similarity in the two scenes. When you have that many “coincidences” the simplest explanation is that they weren’t coincidences at all, especially on a show that loves to do parallels

can we just talk about how hurt sam looks when dean kills ruby? she may have betrayed him, but he still loved her.

image

Can we also talk about the way Ruby turns her back on Sam? The look of surprise on her face when Sam grabs her? Ruby is brilliant- at knowing people, at fighting- but she not only leaves her back vulnerable to attack from the second Winchester, it doesn’t even occur to her that Sam would help kill her.

Honestly, I think that says Ruby loved Sam too.
